Q: Subaru Legacy?
Does the 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i non turbo have a good engine sound? Is it loud? And is there an exhaust system that makes it sound like a WRX?

A: I just have to laugh at some of the answers on here, they crack me up.

Well, it’s a pretty quiet motor, most cars are from the factory. Another answer says there is 2 exhausts??? There is one exhaust system that “Y’s” off into 2 mufflers. They do make aftermarket exhaust for the Legacy, and almost any kind will sound very nice, it’s a Subaru boxer motor!

Q: Subaru legacy?
the subaru legacy i want is around $26,000, if i say “take $6K off the price and install all the options for free, and i wll take it home today” will that work??
we do know a finance director (1 of my dads friends, rented our town house for years) at 1 subaru dealership, and a GM at another subaru dealership)

its a 2008 subaru legacy 2.5i limited
spoiler
wheel locks
remote start
splash guards
subwoofer

A: I would check with your friends first to see if its even possible before you try, or else the sales people will laugh at you and you will look and feel stupid (especially when you go back to the place to actually buy the car for real)

I recommend you skip the silly add ons you mentioned and spend a little bit more for the 2.5GT model. trust me you would rather have the turbocharged motor, than the subwoofer and spoiler on the super slow base model car

i can kinda live with 20% ($5200) but still rather have $6K

A: Plan to negotiate on price. Dealers may be willing to bargain on their profit margin, often between 10 and 20 percent. Usually, this is the difference between the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) and the invoice price.

Q: How expensive is a 2010 subaru legacy to insure?
Im looking at buying a new car and I have decided I like the subaru legacy. The mazda6 is also a good car but im just wondering, will the subaru legacy 3.6r be an expensive car to insure?
Damn haha mad Jack really is mad haha I just wanted to get a general idea and see if the public knew something that I didn’t

A: They are no more expensive than comparable models. The turbo model is a little more expensive because of it being such a sporty car, but other than that, they are no more expensive than others.

Q: How to remove the starter in a 1993 Subaru Legacy?
We are trying to replace the starter in a 1993 Subaru Legacy. We cannot find the right size socket for the bolt that holds it in place. Does anyone know what size it is? Thanks!

A: 14 or 17mm I believe

Q: How do I a remove a cover plate from a Subaru Legacy transmission?
I have a ‘96 Subaru Legacy Outback. I removed the transaxle in order to replace the seal and broke the “cover plate” in the process. I now need to remove the cover plate from this vehicle, and from my parts vehicle for a replacement. How do I safely remove the cover plate?

Q: What should I do about my 1990 subaru legacy?
I used a can of k&w block sealer on my 1990 subaru legacy to fix the head gasket. This was january of 08. It is still running grteat but I was wondering if I should use another can of k&w or something else to help keep it running.

A: I would start making plans to get it fixed right by a machine shop or engine rebuilder. If nothing else you’ll get someone that can check for warpage on the head and or cracks in the block. Block sealer is kind of a last ditch effort before actually having to rebuild it.

That being said the want and money are two different categories. Too much of the sealer can cause more internal damage so i would wait until it shows sign of failing again before adding more. but if you plan to keep the car either go the rebuilder/ machine shop route or source another engine

Q: Can i make a 2006 Subaru Legacy more comfortable to ride in?
I have a 2006 Subaru Legacy and it is the most uncomfortable car when it hits bumps, and the problem is the streets around here need work. I do have the Yokahama low profile tires. Could it just be the tires, or is there something else that can handles the bumps better?

A: 1. Where is your stock (OE) tires?

2. If you change to low profile tires, did you adjust the suspension to hard or soft?

3. Legacy in that year, except the GT and Spec B, which is on “hard” and performance suspensions, it will give you a very bumpy ride on rough road.

You probably need to adjust the suspension setting if you can, if not, try to lower the pressure of the tires, I am assuming that you have 40 psi out of 42 psi. Lower to 35 psi or 32 to see if the bumpy ride goes away.

Q: How hard is it to add fog lights to a subaru legacy wagon?
I just bought a ‘97 Subaru Legacy L Wagon and am very happy with just about all of it. One problem, I’m moving up to the foothills where they have crazy fog, so I need fog lights.

Before I get started I wondered how hard is it to install fog lights from a kit?

Also: Which kits are recommended? Are there kits with LED bulbs? Are LED bulbs recommended?

A: Your car should be pre-wired for the lights. Check out sites such as www.subaruparts.com or www.1stsubaruparts.com

Q: How do I know if my Subaru Legacy 1994 is AWD?
Hi, this may sound dumb but I am new to driving. I have bought a Subaru Legacy 1994 Sedan. I do not know if it is AWD or not. Is their anyway to find it out? I heard all Subaru cars are AWD. And is there any difference between AWD and 4WD?

A: AWD = All Wheel Drive, always
4wd you can choose to use 2 wheels,
and if needed all 4 wheels, and Subaru is always
a 4wd or Awd car so neither way you have one of them.

Q: What is the equivalent of the distributor cap for a 1996 Subaru Legacy?
Apparently there’s no distributor cap in a 96 Subaru Legacy. What is the name of the equivalent piece (the plate on the engine that the plugs come out of)?

A: It’s the coil pack.

Q: What’s the difference between a Subaru Forester, Outback and Legacy wagon ?
I’m thinking of getting a 2006 Subaru Legacy station wagon, but the only one available at the local dealer is the Legacy manual wagon. Is the LEgacy more roomier than the other two ? I need space and fuel economy.

A: I don’t know if it was the ‘08 or ‘09 that they reduced the model lineup, but Legacy became sedan-only, and Outback was wagon-only. Before that, you could get a Legacy wagon or an Outback sedan, as well as vice-versa. The Outback has more clearance than the Legacy, might make it a slightly better off-highway car, but otherwise they are the same vehicle. As others have noted, the Forester is an SUV built on the Impreza platform. Pre-’09, it was a decent enough vehicle, ‘09 and newer it has been significantly improved, better rear seat room, more cargo room, and slightly better MPG. As for which has more room, between a Legacy wagon and a Forester, you’d have to look at the manufacturer specs for exact square footage, but I’d bet they are really close. The Legacy (and Outback) will have a shorter (height) and longer (front to back) cargo area than the Forester, width should be almost (if not exactly) the same.

Someone else said the Tribeca was its own platform. That is incorrect, the Tribeca is built on the Legacy / Outback platform — it is essentially to the Legacy what the Forester is to the Impreza. It has a lot more cargo capacity, but it isn’t really great for people hauling, because they shoe-horned a third row of seats into it. Might work if they are all young kids in the second in third rows, but I would just as soon dismiss the Tribeca. But then, I don’t have kids.

I’m waiting for the return of the BRAT ;-)

Q: How do you fix a Loose shifter on a Manual Subaru legacy wagon yr 96?
I have a 1996 Manual Subaru Legacy Wagon my Shifter is extremely loose and i need to fix it. Not only is it hard to shift but i am learning Standard and it very hard with a loose shifter. Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
My shifter is loose as in there is a lot of play when its in gear as if its in neutral.

A: What do you mean by “loose”? That there’s a lot of slop in the action and it sometimes grinds or sticks when changing gears? You could need a clutch adjustment, or you might have worn or damaged synchronization rings in your shift mechanism, which I think is very likely.
