Q: how can i fix failure of a speed sensor in the transmission of a 1999 chevrolet suburban?
it is a 1500 4×4 and the reason we know is that after using it for a while the speedometer goes to zero and transmission only goes on 1or 2 gear. mechanic made diagnostic and said it might be speed sensor

A: You failed to say if it is a 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive and a 1500 or 2500 series if it is a 4 wheel drive it has more than one speed sensor but you just have to replace the sensor! how did you know the sensor was bad?

Q: What is the appropriate life of a serpentine belt on a Chevrolet Suburban?

A: A belt can last 100,000 km +. It depends on the climate, if debris comes between it and the pullies, etc. If the tensioner is worn, loose or misadjusted the belt can slip on the accessories causing it to wear out prematurely. Proper tension and periodic checks are very imprtant. If if breaks, you will lose your water pump (engine damage) power steering (ever tried to turn the steering wheel on a ‘burban with the engine off??? LOL) alternator (what runs your electrical systems) Air conditoner, etc.

If the belt is too loose, your accessories will not be driven properly and the belt will wear out very quickly. If it’s too tight the belt will also wear out prematurely and you will overexcert the bearings in the accessories (not good). I hope this answers your question.

Q: where is the container for the windshield shield wiper located on a 2001 chevrolet suburban?
well i know where it is but for some reason it doesnt spray the back windshield only the front one. are there two different ones? or is it just clogged?

A: disconnect the hose from the rear wiper blow air through the hose if the washer fluid bubbles in the jug the line is clear. then try to spray the rear fluid without it connected if it sprays then you have a clogged nozzle if not the rear washer pump in no good. or try switching the lines on the bottle try to wash the rear window and if it sprays on the front window the pump is fine try the front washer and if it don’t work you have a block or broken line.

Q: i have a 99 chevrolet suburban and the lock in the door rotate and now the door won’t close?
I was washing my 1999 chevrolet suburban and when running the cloth along the side of the door, it caused the locking mechanism to rotate which now prevents the door from closing. I attempted to manually rotate it back to the position to allow the door to close and I am unable to. What gives??

A: Hi,pull up on the inner door handle & use a screwdriver or another round object & lift up on the latch cam.It should release then. Good luck

Q: What’s the difference between Chevrolet Suburban & GMC Suburban?

A: The only difference is the symbol on the front. Also the GMC may have more options on the inside, maybe more classy. But they are both made by General Motors.

Q: What car should I get, Hummer or Chevrolet Suburban ?
My dad says these cars are safer, but do you think these cars are too big for a 5′ 2 ” girl ? I like the extra room so you can put school books and stuff, and maybe it would be better when I don’t want people to know if I smell after the gym . I don’t care about gas mileage because I have a credit card but I think it my be to hard to drive and find a parking spot . Is it hard to get a fake handicap permit ?

A: I have a Yukon XL, the same size as a Suburban, and I Love it! I love the room! I love the comfort! I love it all the way around! It is awesome on trips! Also, if you budget right, you won’t need a Credit card for gas! I have no trouble parking, you just have to get used to it and it doesn’t take long!

Q: How Much Chevrolet Suburban Cost Australian?
Ok so i9 know in america it cost 40,635 – 55,625 How much would one cost in Australia or should i just buy one american and convert it to RHD.

Thanks.

A: To convert one from left drive to right would cost more than it would be worth. Why don’t you type into your browser something like “Chevrolet Suburbans for sale” and your city or zip code?

Q: What is the stock front axle on a 1984 Chevrolet suburban 4wd.?
It appears to be a Dana, but the bolt pattern looks different.
It is a 10 bolt diamond shaped cover with the drain plug in the correct place for a Dana 44, but the bolt pattern is slightly different than the pics of the Dana 44 covers I have seen online.

A: In 84 it could have been the dana 44 or GM corporate, which was more of an oval than the diamond shaped 44.

Q: 1998 Chevrolet Suburban makes clicking noise when turning left. Any suggestions as to what it is?

A: its the CV (contsant velocity) joint on your one of your front wheels

Q: How Much Would it Cost To Import A Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe Into Japan?
Since so many people saying its un prcatical and stuff, i like those trucks. and to the other girl yes i know japan is not a state of the US, other wise i would not be asking here!.

A: It would cost thousands…if at all. It would have to pass Japanese air quality control tests which are more strict than they are in the US. There’s also some issues about cars/ trucks that are left hand drive. Owning a car / truck in Japan is far more costly.
Sorry, the other people are right, it’s not practical.

Q: Do I need a special key for a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban?
I’m trying to get a spare key made and the 3 I’ve had cut at various hardware stores don’t work.

They all turn on the battery but a full turn doesn’t start the engine.

If I do need something special, is a dealer my only option?

Thank you in advance. :)

A: Short answer is Yes. Your key is micro chipped. If you don’t already have a duplicate, they can require the dealer contacting the manufacturer in order to obtain proper coding data. This is much more expensive than if you have a duplicate to begin with, then at our local GM dealer it will run about 25 dollars. If not, it can be upwards of 100 dollars. This is why any one who is buying a late model used auto should make certain the dealer includes at least two keys, otherwise you just added a C-note to your buying price. This usually only happens when you are buying an auto of a different make than the dealer is franchised for.

Q: why does my 2001 chevrolet suburban 2500 ping almost all the time?
had a tuneup in last 25000 miles and they supposedly cleaned carbon. I live in area where they use bleneded fuel. A friend said that I may have to manually set the timing? I thought it was done by computer.

A: There is no manual timing setting. You probably have a bad knock sensor or something. Get it looked at or you will wreck your pistons.

Q: I read that some 1994 veichales were OBD II compatible. Is a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban OBD II compatible ?
Yeah my bros sub gets the Check engine light on when he turns off the a/c.

A: OBD II (On Board Diagnostics generation 2) was developed and implemented in SOME applications in the model year 1994 for G. M. and Ford. Others were in the process, though full compliance wasn’t until 1996, and even then there were some foreign manufacturers not in compliance and had to be threatened with loss of sales and Federal law suits to become compliant.
The On Board Diagnostic capabilities of all cars equipped with electronic engine management goes all the way back to the very late ’70s for some cars, but for the most part didn’t become universal until the early ’80s.
The Suburban was NOT OBD II compliant.
If he would like to begin the process of diagnostics, it can be done on that model with a paperclip. There is no code reader required, though they are manufactured, they are not necessary.
Go here———->

http://autorepair.about.com/library/ts/obd-i/bl-dtcs-68a.htm

…and scroll down beyond the code descriptions and read the procedure. Print the page for quick reference.
The connector you need to access is under the dashboard, just to the left of the steering column. Insert the paperclip into wells “A” & “B” and then turn the ignition to the “Run” position, but don’t start it.
Each code will flash three times, then cycle on to the next code. When you se the code “12″ again, all of the codes have been displayed.
Use the description chart to help identify the failure.
Use a repair or service manual available at the local parts house or book store for the proper diagnostic and repair routines.
NOTE——>
It is important to understand that the code refers to a failure in a circuit or system monitored by the PCM. It does NOT NECESSARILY point to a failed component. The component is a part of a circuit or system. Diagnose the whole system. Save a lot of money, time, and frustration by NOT throwing parts at a code and calling it repaired. A code for an oxygen sensor could be the sensor, but it could ALSO be a failing fuel pump, restricted fuel filter, broken vacuum line, or (?) etc.

Good Luck

Q: How do I change the oil pump on my 1993 Chevrolet 2500 Suburban?
Ok my daily driver is a 1993 Suburban 3/4 ton 4×4. It has 293,000 miles. My oil pressure is fine when I start it but after about 10 minutes it runs very low. I am going to replace the pump simply because, even though it might not be the main problem, I know it probably needs it anyway. Any suggestions would be great. Do I just need to remove the oil pan, or is there more to it? Thanks

A: I agree. 20-W50.

The oil pan needs a significant amount of clearance to be removed.
If yours is four wheel drive, it’s going to be a real challenge.

Q: 1999 chevrolet suburban 1500 maximum range?
My fuel gauge is busted and I need to know the maximum range of my 1999 Chevrolet suburban … Please help.

A: Lets do the math and give you a good estimate on the fuel range. The 1999 suburban has a 42 gallon fuel tank. The 1500 suburban 2WD with the 5.7 liter 350CID engine gets 12city and 17hwy MPG.This being said freeway cruising range should be 629 miles with 5 gallons of fuel still in the tank.Best of luck.
