we have a 2006 sebring, it doesnt seem to have automatic headlights. can we get them installed or something? is there meant to be a switch in the car. i dont like not having automatic lights.

A: I own a shop, and yes you can get them installed at the dealership. No they don’t have a switch, but you could have one installed (if you want it) when you have the running lights installed. They are in fact nice to have, but they do have their drawbacks, and this is why they haven’t caught on as a standard feature. Not that many people really want them. This is because; If for some reason your battery gets weak, these lights stay on all the time, and it will cause a starting problem when you try to start the vehicle. In other words; You may get stranded if you have a weak battery, and would otherwise not get stranded if it weren’t for the running lights putting a load on an already weak battery. When this happens the computer will have problems, and you will loose all your presets on your radio. If you just got in the habit of every time you get into the vehicle, adjust your mirrors, seat, and turn on the lights. Personally I don’t care for them, but they are a nice safety feature. This feature looks like it may fall by the wayside, due in part to the starting problems it can cause.

A: I guess for a 97 thats pretty low mileage. only about 6700 miles a year on average. I guess it depends on how the body looks and what kinda shape the interior is in. The biggest thing to remember when buying a used car is , You are buying Someone else’s problems. If you pay 1K for the car and the engine blows up, have to spend 1800 fixing it then what you really have is a 2800 $ car.

I have nearly 3.5 to 4 gallon gas in the tank. I tried using symphon but it is not coming out. Probably symphon pipe is not reaching inside of the tank.

A: there are usually no drain plugs in the fuel tank for safety reasons, tha onmly way i know is to remove the filler neck and use proper syphon tube and syphon into aprroved container, i have also in the past removed the tank partially full and then drained.

Does anyone know how to disable the alarm on a chrysler sebring its a 1997 convertible coupe. I dont have the remote,its the factory alarm.

A: Use the key in either front door lock cylinder to unlock it. They should both have a disarm switch that will turn it off when the cylinder is turned. However, sometimes one switch doesn’t work, so if that happens, just try the other door.

A: It can mean different things on different cars. It probably just isn’t running at maximum efficiency. Someone like Midas can check that out for you, if you don’t want to take it to a dealer. You can still drive on it though.

We are looking for a set of 4 rims for my 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan, and I cant seem to find exactly what I can use. We need the rims to be 16″ x 6.5″ (6″). We were told we can’t use steel rims is that true? We were also told you can use Dodge stratus rims, is that correct as well? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, these rims are so hard to find!

A: The stock rims were steel so you can use steel rims. The Dodge Stratus sedan is the sister car to the Sebring so the wheels are interchangable. I suggest giving the local salvage yards a call and if they don’t have them call Greenleaf or LKQ (they also have websites). Good luck.

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring and the driver side interior door handle doesn’t work anymore. When I pull on it nothing happens. Does anyone know how to replace it or where I can find instructions on how to replace it.

A: The problem is more likely with the linkage inside the door than the handle itself. Could be as simple as broken retainer at one of the pivot points. Easy to fix once you get the door panel off, try checking with your local auto parts stores as some carry repair manuals that will give you step by step details to remove the panel.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring and my keys are locked in the car. It is my only set of keys and I need to get into my car one way or another. Any ideas on how to get them out without busting out my window or anything like that?? I called the police department and they wont open it up for me and the pop-a-lock place is way to expensive. A: Take the last nine numbers of the cars VIN to your local dealer and they can cut you a key for three to five dollars. Or have someone else pick it up from the dealer for you if you are stranded. they can cut you a new key that will get you in the door with just the VIN.

Q: What Would Cause Water In A Chrysler Sebring Convertible?
I have a Chrysler Sebring Convertible and every time there is a a heavy rain, about a gallon of water accumulates on the drivers side floorboard. The top is in excellent condition and this is the only place that water leaks into.

Any ideas as to what’s up?

A: Check the drain outlets in the floor. if they are clogged, water will build-up in the car instead of draining out. There should be a on the right and left, just in front of the rear wheels. Good luck.

We just put on high performance monroe brake pads and they are loud as can be. Any suggestions on a different pad for a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan?

A: Try the medium priced pads. The high performance may mean they last longer but are made out of harder material and could cause squealing.

I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible i was wondering if it is possible to put in a bigger engine in the Sebring weather it be a bigger v6 or even a v8 engine this is a question that i have been trying tofind an answer to but just can’t seem to find.

A: Anything is possible if you have the money or know how. Short answer is no unless you own a race shop wherer you can make a race car. V8 will never fit. it is a FWD car. You won’t get any V8 to work with it. V6 would have to be a newer one to be more powerful and the transmission would have to match it. If you are able to build a car from scratch then you probably could. Otherwise, no chance.

On a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible what options do I have for the radio. The dealer said I could buy the u-connect for $1,000 but he said it would be cheaper just to get a bluetooth system put in. What double din in dash system would be compatible?

A: Your options would be getting a built in Navigation System which can put in through the Radio and would defiantly have Blu-Tooth, whitch would be around $1500-2500. I just bought a used 1997 Chrysler Sebring and it failed the smog test. I took it into the mechanic and he said that I need a new catalytic converter. About how much will this cost to fix?

A: An aftermarket direct fit converter for your car should run around $150 to $300 for the part, plus the labor charges to have it installed.

The factory converter will run anywhere from $400 on up just for the part (some get well over $1000). They’ll generally last longer, but I’d go with the aftermarket if I was paying for it.

Best to call a few shops and ask them about the cost for doing it, call regular repair shops as well as muffler shops to see who’ll give the best price and warranty. Be sure to ask if warranty covers parts and labor, or just the parts. Then go with the shop that suits you best.
